They are also vital to expanding your reach and growing your audience, as hashtags immediately make your content visible not only to those who follow you, but anyone who is searching for that keyword.

It’s important to make sure you use relevant hashtags, as those matched to keywords within any content will maximise SEO. There are, however several hashtags that are often searched for. Do your research and find out what your competitors are using, are there any events with specific hashtags, and are there any social conversations that you could be tapping into?

Whilst hashtags are a great way to increase exposure, less can be more. Don’t fall in to the trap of cramming as many as possible into your posts, and instead carefully cherry pick those which are the most relevant to allow those interested to find you.
