Leicestershire-based K Kong Events is renowned in the East Midlands for hosting sporting evenings and The Tonic Communication was commissioned to maximise interest ahead of an evening with boxing legend Floyd Mayweather.
The Tonic confirmed attendance of 10 key media at the reception evening including national sports correspondents from the BBC, Mirror, Guardian, Sun, Daily Star and Boxing News, with pre-event publicity generated across a number of media and boxing outlets. However, due to Mayweather visa issues, the event was cancelled at short notice. With a track record in issues management, The Tonic stepped in to support K Kong’s management with managing the cancellation, alerting media and attendees and communicating the refund/return policy to stakeholders. The actions of The Tonic limited the reputational damage to the client, and no negative comment appeared as a result.
In the client’s words:
“We feel like The Tonic Communications is an extension of our team. Not only are the personable yet professional, but they quickly and effectively respond to enquiries and endeavour to always get the best results in the time and budget allocated.”
