It starts with understanding your brand, landscape and people, and covers:

  • Meeting with you to discuss the brief, ambitions, tone of voice and any media opportunities or activity on the horizon, allowing us to design a tailored masterclass agenda
  • Developing a training proposal in line with your location, resources and budget
  • Auditing past interviews and media opportunities, surveying your spokespeople options, and understanding individual strengths and weaknesses
  • Doing our homework so we understand specific concerns around media interviews or approaches and subjects/areas you might be challenged on
  • Scenario planning for a range of possible stories, to form the basis of the media communications skills

 

On the day masterclass:

Led by your priorities, our press interview techniques training would cover:

  • Media message development – sharing impactful messages that resonate with your audience, talking in powerful soundbites (giving the press what they want) and steering the conversation back to what you want to talk about
  • On-camera training – from vocal delivery to posture and body language
  • Handling tough questions – Giving you clear strategies to manage sensitive or challenging questions calmly without losing credibility

Crucially, at Tonic, we know the best way to learn is by doing, which is why our media training is designed to feel as realistic as possible. From speaking down the line, or on location, our trained journalists will put you through your paces in as-real media scenarios. The shape and design of the course will be adapted dependent on your optional extras e.g. film crew hire/studio hire.

 

Ongoing support:

  • On the day you will receive immediate feedback to take forward into each new task (including watching/listening to your own performance)
  • After the training day, each individual will be given bespoke feedback and supporting guidebooks to help you review and practice
  • The Tonic team remains on hand to provide strategic advice or help with any follow up questions
  • Media liaison around specific opportunities, including briefings and interview management, can be bolted on post training.
