Nottingham PR specialists The Tonic was commissioned by online health clinic UK Meds – a portal supplying products for home delivery – following a competitive pitch process.

The initial brief was a three-month healthcare PR campaign to support brand activity related to sponsorship of Nottingham Forest Football Club, raise awareness of the company’s philanthropic efforts, and manage trade media relations around UK Meds’ regulatory credentials, safeguarding its credibility and building trust.

Results generated by the Nottingham PR team:

Securing positive coverage in national media was a core KPI and this was achieved. A feature story on charitable giving from ‘Secret Santa’ managing director Joe Soiza was placed in The Daily Express in print and online, Daily Mirror, Sunday Mirror, MSN and a raft of other mainstream media. Exposure was achieved from regional Nottingham outlets and international media, including in the US.

Trade media management was a key objective. This resulted in positive on-message coverage in key title Chemist+Druggist, explaining the company’s motivation to withdraw from the General Pharmaceutical Council jurisdiction.

In total the reach of the project was over 155 million. The cost per thousand (CPM) delivered was less than 10 pence.

The Tonic was able to support UK Meds based on its track record with managing comms for other health service providers, such as Medichecks, MSKPN and Vision Express.

Having an agency that can help navigate the complex regulatory landscape for online health providers is crucial when selecting a PR partner. For further information on how The Tonic can help, please get in touch with our team.
